​Wiscasset, Maine, proudly holds the title of the "worm capital of the world," a heritage celebrated annually at the Wiscasset Wormfest. This lively festival brings together residents and visitors to honor the town's rich maritime traditions and the vital role of the worm harvesting industry in the local economy. The event features a variety of activities, including live music, children's games, and engaging contests, all set against the picturesque backdrop of Wiscasset's waterfront.​

The upcoming Wormfest is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Railroad Avenue parking lot and surrounding street area. Festivities commence at 11:00 AM with family-friendly activities such as a touch tank and complimentary food for children until 1:00 PM. Music lovers can enjoy performances by "Deadly Desire," an acclaimed 80s cover band, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Afternoon highlights include a mud pie eating contest and relay races from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The evening culminates with a performance by "Something Stupid," renowned as Maine's premier cover band, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, during which scholarships will be awarded to deserving Wiscasset Middle High School seniors.

In addition to entertainment, Wormfest supports the community through its merchandise store, offering items like T-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps. Proceeds from sales contribute to scholarships for local high school seniors and fund future iterations of the festival.
